Look a Like Meter

I saw this on Steve's cousin's blog and thought I'd see who Ethan looks more like.

Beehive Baby Blankets

This is the latest project I've been working on, and I thought I'd show you the finished product. The Beehives wanted to learn to tie quilts to I put together some baby blankets for them to tie. They didn't get very much done in a hour, but the did learn how its done, which is the important part. I had to go through and retie a few and finish them off, and I think they turned out pretty cute. They are going to be a shower gift for one of the Young Women leaders from the Beehives.

Ethan Update

Ethan has been a busy boy since the last time I posted about him. He is a climbing monkey, and he is walking and talking like a champ. He loves going down slides and swinging on swings at the park. I have been taking him to a play group so that he can learn to share, which is not a strong point of his.
This is Steve reading Ethan a bedtime story... he loves Dr. Seuss and the big Tibor Gergely book. Mostly he loves spending time with his dad!



This is Ethan with olives on his fingers. He loves olives because of how he gets to eat them! He can't get enough of them on his fingers.














Ethan love getting into the drawers... in this picture he's sitting, but he likes to try and climb up the drawers and stand up in them too... anything he can do to get closer to being on the counter top.













Ethan LOVES ducks... he says quack quack anytime that he sees any kind of bird, and Ethan and Steve really enjoy chasing the ducks at the park to make them scatter all over. And since every little boy likes to throw things, he also enjoys throwing the bits of bread for them to eat.













This picture is at the zoo. They have a tractor at the petting farm, and he really enjoyed playing with the steering wheel. Isn't this a great picture?

The Portrait of a Lady

The Portrait of a Lady by Henry James

There is no nice way to say this... NEVER EVER EVER read this book. It will be the biggest waste of your life, and you'll never be able to get it back! I trudged through the first half, when the plot got minimally interesting, so I decided to finish just to find out what happens to the main character, Isabel Archer... bad decision. Nothing happens. You just keep trudging and trudging and when the book ends you wonder if Henry got as bored writing as you were reading and just decided to stop. If you do decide to read this book and want to know if Isabel ends up with Lord Warburton, give me a call and I'll tell you what happens (which is pretty much nothing). Trust me when I say that I usually like books where not a lot happens, I have read my fair share of them because I studied English in college... this is not one of those books where nothing happens and it was enjoyable, this is one of those books where nothing happens and you want to fall over dead. Just don't read it unless you have to :)

I thought I would start letting you all know about what I read. Follow the River by James Alexander Thom

I really enjoyed this book about a woman named Mary Ingles, who is captured by Indians and escapes. It is about her journey back to her husband and all of the hardships that she endures. It was so inspiring how strong and determined she was. It was also a little bit gruesome because it describes the Indian attack on the settlement, burning buildings, killing people, etc. But it was such a great read, if you can manage to get through the gruesome beginning without crying so hard that you can't see through the tears!
